The Somerset Youth and Community Sailing Association (an RYA recognised Training Centre, an OnBoard and Foundation Sailabilty Club and provisional Volvo Champion Club) is based at Durleigh Reservoir and run by volunteers. SYCSA runs sailing courses for children and adults of all abilities. It has a fleet of training boats which is suitable for all needs, ranging from Optimists, Topper’s and Pico’s to Wayfarer’s and Comet Trio for general sailing through to RS Vision and Buzz dinghies for the advanced sailors.
SAILING AND POWERBOAT TUITION AND TRAINING.
Dinghy training activities include the very popular children’s Saturday Morning Sailing Club, taster sessions (Playsails, Get Started and Start Sailing) plus full RYA Level 1 – 3 courses. In 2008 we started a Race Club and Race Training sessions via which our young sailors have gained the skills to compete in RYA Regional racing events. SYCSA also operates sailing sessions for local schools, scout groups and the disabled.
If you want to try sailing, learn to sail or improve your skills, SYCSA runs a course for you. We offer the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme (Stages 1 to 4), RYA National Sailing Scheme (Level 1 to 3) and RYA Powerboat Training (Levels 1, 2 and S).
