We are looking for someone who would like to organise the windsurfing club in 2012. We have the kit, we have the volunteers, we have the windsurfers, all we need is someone to bring it all together. Interested? Please contact Richard Bruce
As well as being able to windsurf whenever club sailing is taking place, Durleigh Sailing Club runs a windsurfing club for children and adults.
In 2010, the club ran on Thursday evenings from Easter till early September, with kit hire for all ages.
The club offered a series of intermediate and racing clinics for all ages run by an RYA Instructor and Race Coach. In addition, a beginners windsurf course was held earlier in the season and was attended by both children and adults.
Sailors using their own board must have third party liability insurance for a sum not less than £1,000,000 and a Durleigh SC sailing licence. Safety cover is provided by the club.
The Windsurfing Club is for all ages, but please note that under 16′s must have a parent/guardian onsite for the whole session. Kit hire includes a rig and board. All sailors at Durleigh Sailing Club must wear a buoyancy aid whilst on the water. We have a limited number of buoyancy aids available. Due to the nature of the sport, it is essential that you wear a suitably thick wetsuit and footwear. A summer wetsuit is not suitable for windsurfing at Durleigh during April and May. If you need help with finding a suitable wetsuit, please ask us. We also have a number of discounts at local shops for our members.
All users of the Windsurfing Club must be a member of Durleigh Sailing Club. Temporary membership is available.
